Tina worked for 13 years (from 1986-1999) with architectural and interior design firms based in Hong Kong, Manila and Singapore on projects in Asia.
Since coming to Japan in early 1999 she has participated in volunteer work for a non-profit association in a design and art related capacity. She is now working on photography commissions, provides artwork for interior design projects in Tokyo and does portrait photography.
In her photographic work Tina Mortimer illustrates the essence in materials and objects by showing them in an unusual sensuous way.
She approaches subjects with the eye of a designer. In her photography she applies the same close attention to details as she does in her work as an interior architect.
"My interest and fascination is with how certain components take on a separate identity, eluding their origins which are the objects they are a part of."
